Elicit is an AI research assistant that helps researchers surface papers and extract findings from the literature. WriteGo does not reproduce that discovery workflow. It starts after you have chosen your papers: upload the PDFs and ChatPDF answers questions from up to six excerpts retrieved out of the paper itself, with every page citation validated verbatim against those excerpts before the answer reaches you.
Choose WriteGo when the priority is evidence you can check. Answers quote the paper instead of summarizing it out of view, every page citation is verified word for word, an answer whose citations fail validation is demoted and not billed, and no black-box quality score is layered on top. Evidence notes keep the exact quotes of a saved passage and re-check them against the current document.

Elicit is built to search the research literature and surface relevant papers; WriteGo has no open-literature search — ChatPDF only reads the PDFs you upload to your library. Discovery answers "what should I read?"; close reading answers "what does this paper actually say?". Elicit, as an AI research assistant, works the first stage: surfacing papers and extracting findings. WriteGo deliberately works the second: it never searches the open literature, and every answer comes from a PDF you uploaded — which is exactly what makes each citation checkable.
Each answer is generated from up to six excerpts retrieved out of the paper, and every page citation carries a quote validated verbatim against those excerpts. An answer whose citations cannot be verified is demoted and not billed; a reply stating the document cannot answer the question is not billed either. If a claim looks wrong, its page citation takes you to the page where you can see for yourself.
The verbatim check runs on the server before an answer is delivered, under Unicode and whitespace normalization. Evidence notes re-check their quotes, and restoring an old answer re-verifies every citation against the current document before you rely on it.
No open-literature search, no AI detection inside the reader, no hidden quality score, and no answer that survives a failed citation check. No. WriteGo has no open-literature search by design. ChatPDF works only on the PDFs you upload to your library, which is what allows every citation to be pinned to a page in a document you hold.
Yes. Every answer is generated by an AI model from excerpts the server retrieves out of your paper — there is no local answer engine. What differs is the check: each cited quote is validated verbatim against those excerpts, and an answer that fails is demoted and not billed.
Uploading and reading a paper are included in your plan. Answers are billed by length, from 1 credit and never more than 2, and unlimited plans are unmetered. Cannot-answer replies and answers demoted for unverifiable citations are not billed at all.
